I will save you all the reasons why we are not really. Even though Italy is not on the list, it sounds like a heaven next to USA. I am inclined to vote for you for Governor but your focus on the homelessness crisis has left me wondering what your approach as Governor would be on a related problem that effects even more Californians every day: the housing crisis. You’ve written in the past about needing more infill and suburbs, but I’m wondering what sorts of measures you’d try to drive through the legislature. Would you support, for instance, the original SB 827? Or one of the versions of its slimmed down/less ambitious descendants SB 50?
Are you concerned we’re reaching maximum effective commuting distance (many have 2+ hour commutes to get to an affordable community). How will you overcome NIMBYism in rich high opportunity areas like Beverly Hills, Larchmont, Pasadena, the west side of SF, Palo Alto, etc, which forces higher income people to compete for homes in the only places they exist at an affordable price, namely lower income and minority communities?
A post or even simply tweet thread on your approach to addressing the housing (not homelessness) crisis would be hugely appreciated and I think go a long way in at least some circles.
