Dear Friends and Allies, I am sad to say we did not receive enough votes to make the run-off election in November. At the same time, I am proud of the movement we built to rescue our shared humanity, and excited about what we will do together next. I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete with Gov. Gavin Newsom over rival visions for addressing California’s challenges, but congratulate him and Sen. Brian Dahle on their victory. I hope their campaigns engage substantively on our most pressing issues.
You not only got a lot of attention for a small-budget insurgent, you drew attention to vital causes and the possibility of solutions outside the stale, failing consensus on how to address them. In that respect you've already had a lot of impact so congratulations.
I don’t live in California and honestly never really cared about elections there, but after going to California twice in the past couple years I realized it’s a great state that is terribly run. I was rooting for you and I still am. Everyone is a leader. Keep setting a good example, telling the truth, and changing your state for the better.
I’m very sorry you didn’t win. I wouldn’t have congratulated the man, Newsom, that is intentionally destroying our beautiful state though.
I suspect California has been the testing ground for election fraud for sometime. In time we will no doubt start hearing about the anomalies that took place in this one.
I was so disappointed to see the results, Michael. But...your did so much, got so much accomplished in such a short time. I'm hoping this is just a beginning. What you have to say is important, and needs to be heard- regularly and by many more. I know you'll be staying active and I'm hoping I see you over the next year in many different forums talking sense about topics that our 'leaders' seem to not want to deal with in a realistic manner. You've built an awareness and a following that crosses traditional political lines. We need to hear more of Michael Shellenberger, not less. Get a well-deserved rest. Then...we look forward to hearing from you again. Stay well. And thank you for what you have done. And...California...Really? Another round of Gavin Newsom? One wonders how much abuse people can take before they see the light.
Sadly people were not ready to vote for an independent; even the SF Chronicle concedes that you were probably otherwise the most viable challenger to Newsom. Thank you for running, Michael!!! Can't wait to see what you do next!!!!
Thank you so much! You've accomplished more than you know! I'm in a progressive midwestern college town and I've been able to use your talking points to fight the insanity here. I donated to your campaign as a thank you and because your ideas are so important. Please don't give up. This country needs you! But you can take a week or two off...you deserve it ;-)
Oh No! Say it ain't so! Michael, you are the Great Hope for California. Is it really too much to ask that California have politicians who advocate for utterly rational policies that would show this state to be part of what America actually always stood for - responsive government that defines problems which adversely affect normality, civility and modernity and that works to correct a twisted culture of degradation that has been allowed flourish in iconic place-names in the name of political correctness?
"This is the end of a campaign and the beginning of a movement. " Count me in. This cannot be allowed to be buried under a meaningless barrage of political alternatives that will destroy everything California ever stood for.
2-What is the main thing you would do differently?
3-What would you have NOT learned or known had you NOT done this run? thanks...
I feel I too private and selfish a person to be a public servant; I truly hate 99% of all meetings, unless they happen at a bar or a picnic. I also hate moving about by alot transit unless it's my bike, for the most part, perhaps I am a tree, really. I do dance though. So I am always suprised there are humans that are willing to endure the grueling epic thing that is to run for office at this level and who wish to try to govern, whatever that really means in this age where surveillance has come to replace governance.
Well done. I have been a fan and a contributor, and I, like many others probably, am not a CA citizen. The problems you address are US problems. Keep it up.
Loved your run Michael. Big fan.

I'm a huge fan. Please keep the conversation going!

A candle in the darkness. Thank you for lighting a match, Michael
You had my vote, if Newsome’s opponent is smart he would have you involved with his campaign.
Terrible disappointment. Hope was alive for a short time. Please stay in the quest for civilization. ❤️🌷❤️✌️✊
Sorry you lost the primary but as you say let’s not give up the fight. The status quo is killing California.

Michael, 3 questions...
1-Was this your first run for office in any way?
2-What is the main thing you would do differently?
3-What would you have NOT learned or known had you NOT done this run? thanks...

You'll keep doing good work outside the Governor's Mansion!
